Care and Handling |
- There is no need to shampoo a wig every time it's worn. The type and quantity of styling products used, such as hairspray, mousse or gel, will determine how often you need to shampoo the fiber. Once a week may be ideal for you. If you don't use any styling product or only wear the wig for a couple of hours at a time - you may only need to shampoo it about every 15-20 wearings.
- Use only water-soluble products designed specifically for synthetic hair, as other products will dull the fiber. Add one capful of Hair U Wear® Shampoo to two quarts of cold - never hot - water. Soak the wig for 5 minutes, then gently swish up and down. Rinse completely in cold water. Dab gently with a towel to remove excess water.
- Do not squeeze or twist to dry. DO NOT comb or brush while wet.
- While still wet, spray on Hair U Wear® Leave-in Conditioner & Detangler.
- Place the wig on a wig stand so that air will circulate around it, and let it dry overnight. Never put a synthetic hair piece on a solid headstand or block, as it will stretch the cap or form.
- Once the piece dries, you may brush it with a wig brush or gently comb it. No setting is necessary because it will revert back to it's original shape.
- Synthetic hair will melt if it comes in contact with heat or flame. Do NOT use a curling iron or blow dryer on synthetic hair. Even low heat will alter the curl, and may melt the fiber. Any sudden burst of heat, such as when opening an oven door will damage a synthetic hairpiece.
- Between shampoos, using a wig brush, gently brush the piece to remove teasing or tangles.
